Tetraethylenepentamine – TEPA
Tetraethylenepentamine is a polyamine containing multiple primary and secondary amine groups. Its high amine functionality makes it reactive with epoxides, acids and other functional materials and useful as an intermediate or curing-related component in chemical formulations.
Overview
Product information
Tetraethylenepentamine is a polyamine containing multiple primary and secondary amine groups. Its high amine functionality makes it reactive with epoxides, acids and other functional materials and useful as an intermediate or curing-related component in chemical formulations.
A complication for catalogue work is that commercial TEPA may be offered as technical material or an aliphatic-amine mixture rather than a single highly purified molecular species. Hamara should therefore confirm assay and composition before publishing a fixed purity or detailed performance specification.

Handling and storage
Supplier SDS information for technical TEPA requires strong skin and eye protection, suitable ventilation and avoidance of unnecessary vapour or aerosol exposure because polyamines can be corrosive or irritating. Keep containers tightly closed and store under the conditions specified by the current SDS, away from incompatible materials. This summary does not replace Hamara's product-specific SDS.
Applications
Application information
- Epoxy and resin curing chemistry
- Chemical intermediate manufacture
- Polyamine-derived additives
- Chelation and metal-binding chemistry
