Xylene (Mixed Isomers)
Mixed xylene is a commercial mixture of dimethylbenzene isomers rather than one discrete molecular structure. The mixture normally contains varying proportions of ortho-, meta- and para-xylene and may also contain ethylbenzene depending on the commercial specification.
Overview
Product information
Mixed xylene is a commercial mixture of dimethylbenzene isomers rather than one discrete molecular structure. The mixture normally contains varying proportions of ortho-, meta- and para-xylene and may also contain ethylbenzene depending on the commercial specification.
It is used mainly as an aromatic solvent and as a feedstock or process material in chemical production, coatings and related formulations. The Hamara inventory lists 99% industrial grade, but the isomer distribution, ethylbenzene content and assay basis should be confirmed before technical data are published.

General guidance
Handling and storage
Mixed-xylene SDS guidance requires control of flammable vapours and worker exposure. Use effective ventilation, suitable eye and skin protection and grounded equipment where required for liquid transfer. Keep containers tightly closed in designated flammable-liquid storage and segregated from oxidizers. Because commercial mixtures differ in isomer and ethylbenzene composition, the exact product SDS should govern handling information.
