Overview
Product information
Methanol is the simplest alcohol and a major industrial solvent and chemical feedstock. It is a clear, volatile and highly flammable liquid that mixes readily with water and many organic solvents.
It is used to manufacture other chemicals, in solvent applications and as a component or feedstock in fuel-related processes. Commercial grades differ in water and impurity specifications. The inventory lists 99.85% AA grade, but “AA grade” should be tied to a defined commercial specification before it appears as a Hamara product claim.

General guidance
Handling and storage
Methanol SDS guidance requires strict ignition control, good ventilation and measures to prevent inhalation, ingestion and skin exposure. Store in tightly closed compatible containers in a designated flammable-liquid area, separated from oxidizing and incompatible materials. Because methanol is acutely toxic as well as flammable, handling practices should follow the current SDS and workplace exposure assessment.
Applications
Application information
- Chemical intermediate manufacture
- Industrial solvent systems
- Fuel and energy-related chemical processing
