Polypropylene Glycol
Polypropylene glycol is a polyether polymer produced from propylene oxide and terminated with hydroxyl groups. CAS 25322-69-4 covers a family of PPG materials, so molecular weight and viscosity vary by grade and there is no single fixed molecular weight.
Overview
Product information
Polypropylene glycol is a polyether polymer produced from propylene oxide and terminated with hydroxyl groups. CAS 25322-69-4 covers a family of PPG materials, so molecular weight and viscosity vary by grade and there is no single fixed molecular weight.
Selected low-molecular-weight PPG products are used as flotation frothers because their surface activity can modify bubble and froth behaviour. The Hamara inventory references “Dowfroth 250,” which is commercial-product terminology and should not be treated as interchangeable with generic PPG without confirming the actual formulation and right to use that name.

Handling and storage
A Fisher Scientific SDS for polypropylene glycol recommends normal chemical hygiene, suitable eye and skin protection and closed storage under the conditions specified for the grade. Because PPG products span different molecular weights and viscosities, Hamara should use the exact SDS for its intended flotation grade rather than a generic polymer record.
Applications
Application information
- Mineral-flotation frother
- Froth-control formulations
